Akron Marathon Summary

This picture tells the whole story of the Akron 1/2 Marathon! The first one I have run where I enjoyed the whole event from the beginning to the end. It sure makes a difference when you are not worried about finishing in a certian time. In the end I did improve my time by over 7 minutes from last year to this year.

Special thanks to Nick Billock for taking this picture, I would rather have had you on the roads with us but recover quickly my friend!

Nutrition Choices

Here are some choices of foods for each nutritional category:

Protien: Grilled White Chicken Breast, White Turkey Meat, Pork Chops, Steak (not too often), Protien Shakes, Eggs, Milk, Tuna, Fish, Soy Foods

Carbohydrates: Oatmeal, Cream of Wheat,Fruits (apples, Peaches, Cherries, Pears, Oranges, Strawberries), Vegetables (Carrots, Green Beans, Green and Yellow Peppers, Tomatoes, Broccoli, Corn), Whole Wheat Cereals, Brown Rice, Whole Wheat Pastas, Any Bread that is Stone-ground, whole grain, pumpernickel, or sourdough.

Fats: Oils (Canola, Olive Oil, Peanut Oil, Soybean) Nuts (Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, Pecans)

Typically a balanced diet should be made up of 40% of calories from Carbohydrates, 30% from Protiens, and 30% from Fats. (The percentages may change based on your personal data)
